I create sculptural porcelain luminaries—light-bearing objects that exist somewhere between functional form and quiet sculpture. Each piece begins on the wheel, then is carefully carved, pierced, and shaped by hand. Sometimes I incorporate handbuilding techniques to guide the form where the wheel can’t.
Occasionally, I use water-soluble metal salts to stain the porcelain from within, allowing color to surface like a quiet echo. The process, like the work itself, is slow, experimental, and intuitive.
Rooted in ceramic tradition but always evolving, my work explores fragility, glow, and stillness. These illuminated porcelain forms aren’t just lamps or vessels—they’re one-of-a-kind expressions of light and presence.
Alongside these sculptural pieces, I also make small batches of functional work—cups, mugs, and playful decorative objects that bring a bit of color and joy into daily life. Whether functional or sculptural, each piece is part of a small, evolving collection of contemporary ceramic design, made with care and intention in my South Carolina studio.
